Nepal Telecom is all set to start the much awaited WiMAX service in 1500 different places of the city including airports, hospitals and parks. According to Pradip Thakur, Deputy Manager of NT, the minimum speed will start from 256kbps and a single hotspot will be able to serve around 100 people with 3KM coverage area.
For those unfamilier with WiMAX, WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwve Access ) is a communication technology for wirelessly delivering high-speed Internet service to large geographical areas.
The equipment required for the WiMAX service will be delivered by Airspan (US based company) and the test transmission will start in around six months.
However, NTC is yet to speak about it's pricing
